Types of Forklifts

Forklifts are used inside warehouse and construction sites to carry and move heavy loads. They are commonly found in other manufacturing and material handling industries. There are various types of forklifts designed for different sorts of applications.

The way forklifts are powered is the main difference between them. Some use internal combustion motors and several are electrical powered. For lifting loads which are heavy whilst maintaining minimum operating costs, electric forklifts are normally the best choice. Electric forklifts are commonly found in indoor work sites. For outdoor applications, internal combustion forklifts are commonly recommended.

A motorized drive, manual drive and fork truck are the three kinds of forklifts. Fork trucks are motorized and have backup alarms and cabs. Motorized drive forklifts normally have a protected seat for the driver. Manual drive forklifts are manually powered.

To be able to prevent tipping, some forklifts are counterbalanced. Other safety factors comprise turntables or handrails. Specialty forklifts are available for particular applications. Like for example, narrow aisle forklifts are designed to work in very tight spaces. Rough-terrain forklifts are very helpful on uneven and rocky surfaces.
