Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas tidy and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is usually utilized. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and can maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
