Kinds of Aisles
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to take into account with various models.
VNA or Very Narrow Aisle trucks work in less than 6 feet places and often utilize certain guidance systems such as wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some different models of VNA trucks consist of Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are popular kinds in compact retail spaces and in several warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks can work in aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Usually these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are often used within warehouses and storage facilities.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work in aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard that is made to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the operator is very big and has an 8" low step height which helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest together with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and thus more effective while limiting fatigue.
