Forklift Tires
There are two kinds of tires that can be used on forklifts: press on and standard. Usually, press on tires are used on electric forklifts and those models used indoors like warehouses. The press on tires could be utilized also in light industrial application as well.
Standard tires are mainly utilized on forklifts that operate in outdoor environment or where rough or uneven surfaces need tougher tires and more traction.
There are lots of different kinds of forklift tires just as there are a lot of various types of forklifts. The types of tires which are most frequently utilized are pneumatic, solid and polyurethane. The kind of tires are dictated by where and what the forklift is used for. It is very vital to acquire the correct type of tires for the job and making sure that the correct choice will have a big effect on both safety and performance.
It is suitable to utilize pneumatic tires on outdoor forklifts that operate in an all-terrain atmosphere like on construction sites. These are constructed out of tough rubber and then filled with air, like a tractor or truck tire. Pneumatic tires create an air cushion between the forklift and the terrain. This design considerably lessens the wear and tear on the machine and creates a very comfortable ride for the operator. The tire's deep, thick treads provide the necessary traction required for use on surfaces that are rough and uneven.
Solid tires are best suited for both light industrial outdoor and indoor applications. They are fabricated out of tough, constructed solid rubber. This helps them to stay safer from blowouts, popping like pneumatic tires or damage due to puncture wounds. Since these tires are not filled with air, they are unable to provide the cushion effect. This fact makes them unsuitable for use on rough terrain. Some solid tires are made with holes in the sidewalls to provide a rather softer ride. The only problem is that this kind of construction makes the load carrying capacity of the forklift less.
The polyurethane forklift tires would usually outlast both of the rubber tire designs but are designed for indoor warehouse applications only. The load capacity of polyurethane is much higher compared to a rubber tire. These tires work great with well with electric forklifts because of the additional weight of the machine's batteries. Due to the less rolling resistance of the tires, one more benefit of this type of tire is the extended battery life.
