Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also known as a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 lbs. Despite being large and sturdy, these industrial equipment still bear the possible risk of accident or crash. In order to be safe, be sure to have operators wear an appropriate seat belt in the forklift and make sure that up to standard safety features are on board. We all know that in case of an accident, seat belts can save lives.
Three-Point Seat Belt
Three-point seat belts can extend across the upper body and over the lap. These belts offer an added degree of safety by protecting your body. They are available in both bucket-seat and bench-seat styles. The 3-point seat belts are offered in either non-retractable or retractable types.
Most modern motor vehicles on the market provide retractable seat belts. Although non-retractable kinds increase safety, retractable styles provide much more comfort. It is not possible for a non-retractable seat belt to extend accidentally.
Lap belts
The type of seat belt that only extends over the lower portion of the body is a two-point lap belt. Most lap belts feature a push-button closure system and are non-retractable. In order to secure the seat belt, just press on the belt button and the two sides would separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The circuit-closed seat belts are the kind that force forklift operators to wear a seat belt. These seat belts have a micro-switch attached that enables an alarm to sound if an operator starts a vehicle and is unsecured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both non-retractable and retractable lap-band kinds.
